Happy #EarthDay π
What a timely day to post this photoseries about people in the Dolomites, a winter refuge in Italy that now feels the burn of climate change.
With rising temperatures, coming across natural snow is becoming more rare. A few decades ago, the snowy season lasted from November to April.
Now, the snow starts to fall in late January and is gone before you know it in March.
Christmas is no longer white, but green.
To keep the tourism sector afloat, regional officials decided to give winter a helping hand. This resulted in Dolomiti Superski, one of the largest artificial winter resorts on the planet.
This photoseries was produced by @marcozorzanello, an Italian photographer of architecture and was published on the latest magazine of our partner @areweeurope, titled βThe Sports Issueβ.
