Photo series: Music, the New Esperanto
In this photo series, Pedro Parra Moyano ( @parraphotostories ) shows music as a communication tool for everyone everywhere, suggesting a metaphor between music and the constructed international auxiliary language: esperanto.
Through these street photographs, the artist wanted to express the power of music to bring people together:
“More than 200.000 babies are born every day in the world. The world gets bigger and bigger and it might seem very difficult to find something in common with someone living on the other side of the planet, but if anything can connect anyone, regardless of their culture, country, gender or age is music.”
The artist explains that immortalizing this is not an easy task, as the art of photography does not include sounds, but it does capture emotions.
“Emotions of everyone, because music doesn't only move musicians, it also involves dancers, luthiers and above all, listeners. Listeners like you and me, listeners from all around the world, no matter from where they come or where they are going, no matter their level of education or their religion. The only thing that matters is that they are willing to open their hearts and enjoy listening to music, the new Esperanto.”
