Mya Berger - Rail to the COP26

Mya Berger, engagement editor at @areweeurope, took a train to Glasgow. But not just any train – she was part of the campaign @railtothecop.

“I’ve never seen Glasgow before. But it’s a chaotic city at the moment, a patchwork of emotions and places. One street is business as usual, the next is filled with protesters beating drums, or giving speeches about the link between colonialism, capitalism, and climate change."

"During the protest against Greenwashing, I ran into some new friends I had met on the train and asked about their experience of COP26. Some had been to official events (the blue zone), others at fringe events (the green zone), and others at open events (not a zone). To them, everything felt scattered and confusing. There was too much happening at once, and they all felt disheartened and drained from a week of reading absurd news articles and running from one protest to the next.”

Last week, @mya.berger_ , engagement editor at @areweeurope, took a train to #Glasgow. But not just any train – she was part of the campaign @railtothecop which gathered activists, industry leaders and policymakers for talks on a sustainable future for travel as they journeyed today along the railway on their way to the climate summit.
