Everyday refugees

“As long as we can remember, there have been conflicts in the world and as long as there have been conflicts, there have been refugees and internally displaced people.”

The work of photographer and Chairman of the NGO “Everyday Refugees Foundation”, Muhammed Muheisen, portrays bits of the daily lives of people who had to leave their homes and search for better living conditions.

The focus of today’s curated photo-series is on Afghan refugees. Many pictures show how refugees are coping with their current situations. Other pictures capture instants of bliss, such as daydreaming, or being surrounded by friends and family.

Muheisen contrasts moments we can all relate to in our everyday lives and, at the same time, exposes the recurring struggles of refugees and internally displaced people, especially those living in camps, aiming to foster awareness about issues that hundreds of thousands of people are currently experiencing.
